Fall Planting

So I know it's a little early to be thinking about Spring, but I've been waiting for my fall bulb order since I placed the order in August!!! In the next couple of weeks I'll be recieving like 200 bulbs that need to be planted :) I can't wait, what nice spring colours I'm gonna have next year. I think I have Crocus, daffodils, hyacinth, tulips and a bunch more on the way... lots of digging coming up soon!!!!

Hi Jennifer,

I am very new at this and selected your blog as I just got almost 100 bulbs in the mail I ordered last summer when we visited Holland, Michigan.

Any hints on planting? I have the device to go down 6 inches. What is the take on using bone meal?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hey Dorothy.... I use bonemeal but some people don't. I find it gives the bulbs the food they need to show really well and produce sturdy plants. Also don't forget after each year to fertalize again... so it helps produce a bigger healthier bulb. Hope this helps. :) I'll be planting soon!!! Good luck.

oh, and I don't use a device I just dig holes that are approx 6-8 inches deep, I like to plant the same kind of bulb together in groups.. to give more of an impact. It's also easier then planting one at a time :)
